The Speedway Police Department is pleased to announce the creation of a Student Academy open only to Speedway High School students. The Student Academy is modeled after the successful adult-level Citizens Academy concept currently used in Speedway. The Student Academy is a contemporary concept used to build positive relationships between local law enforcement and students in the Speedway community. This voluntary program will facilitate open and active dialogue between students and officers in a classroom atmosphere, utilizing topics related to law enforcement as the foundation for discussion.
The Student Academy is a coordinated effort between the Speedway Police Department and Speedway High School, and is sponsored by School Resource Officer Mark Jones, Speedway High School Guidance Counselor Trenton Borom, and Speedway High School teacher Michelle Jackson. There is no cost for this program.
For more specific information about the Student Academy, please contact Speedway School Corporation Resource Officer Mark Jones by telephone at 317-536-9089, or by email at mjones@speedwayin.gov. Officer Jones will be the lead instructor for this academy and looks forward to hearing from those interested in this opportunity.
